Lauren grew up in New York City, receiving her dance training at Steps and Alvin Ailey. When she was little she dreamed of becoming a “motorcycle girl.” Eventually she decided being an actor was a much more practical choice. Attending The Spence School (all girls) and Belvoir Terrace (all girls), she spent most of her childhood playing some great male characters: Valere in La Bête...Riff in West Side Story...the elderly male servant Ferapont in Three Sisters.
Since then, she’s gotten her BA in English from Wesleyan University and her MFA in Acting from Rutgers University, and she’s graduated to playing some fantastic women. Some of her favorites have been Violet in the RSC workshop of Rona Munro’s Little Eagles, Tori on All My Children, and Lucy in Two River Theater’s production of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.
